Samoan Fish (vaisu)

Total Time: 17 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 12 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 3 lbs fish (use a fresh whole mild fish, gutted, scaled and head removed)
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 chili pepper, minced

Recipe

  • 1 prepare the grill, preferably a charcoal grill. grill the whole fish until it is cooked (the flesh flakes easily with a fork).
  • 2 meanwhile add the coconut milk, onion, salt and chile pepper in a bowl.
  • 3 when the fish is cooked, pour the coconut milk mixture over the fish to thoroughly soak it. cover and let stand for 5 minutes to absorb the milk mixture.
  • 4 serve with cooked rice.
