Spicy And Salty Squid

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 3/4 lb fresh squid or 1/2 lb squid, slices
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • splash sesame oil
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons oil, separated
  • oil (for frying)
  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 shallots, minced
  • 1 small red chili pepper, thinly sliced

Recipe

  • 1 peel off the skin of fresh squid and gut; clean thoroughly. cut the squid into thick strips. set aside and drain.
  • 2 place squid in a bowl, add egg, salt, sesame oil, pepper, 3-tbsp cornstarch and 1-tbsp oil and soy sauce. mix well.
  • 3 heat up a pot with oil. deep-fry squid with maximum heat until crispy. remove and put aside.
  • 4 in a wok, stir-fry garlic shallots, and red chili in 1 tablespoon oil.
  • 5 reduce the heat, place the deep-fried squids in wok. season with salt and serve right away.
