Ingredients

• Servings: 6
• 1 lb fine cornmeal
• 1 tablespoon salt
• 1 pinch baking soda
• 1 egg
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1 cup buttermilk
• water, as needed

Recipe

• 1 mix all of the ingredients except water to make batter of a thick consistency. if batter is too thick, add water, a tbs at a time until batter is thinned a little.
• 2 preheat a deep fat fryer with vegetable oil in it up to 375 degrees f. drop dough by tbs into fat and cook until golden brown. serves 6.
